Booked for 4 nights, missed our flight so didn’t arrive until the 2nd day but we were still charged for the first night

We loved our room-large terrace and comfy bed.

Restaurant - breakfast was ok but evening meals were hit and miss - so much so that we didn’t even get what we ordered on the last night, for main or desert as kitchen had run out and we were just bought something different!

A nice hotel near the Nubian Museum which provided a quiet room when requested.

I requested a quiet room on an upper floor that wasn't near families/children and the hotel provided that perfectly. The front desk staff was welcoming and a young woman (I'm sorry I can't recall her name) who was serving drinks poolside was very kind and helpful. She brought a towel to me when I came to the pool and didn't know where I was supposed to get/request one...it was not her job to do that but she went out of her way to do so. The restaurant staff on the the other hand only gave me attention when they needed my room number and then they were done with me. The guest relations/tours woman whose desk sits directly in front of the elevators wouldn't even look at me, no greeting, nothing... I had the impression I should've been wearing a suit and tie before she'd even deign to recognize me. Very cold. There was construction going on in the entryway and it was often loud from morning onward, but the sound didn't travel up to my room, only loud in the lobby. There was an ATM onsite and that was very convenient. I would return to Basma and try it again as it's a good location, across the street from the Nubian museum and also near to a friend and family I visit every year.

Hotel is situated in a very convenient area. The pool area is really nice. Rooms are spacious.

Rooms are old and need an upgrade. Aircon unit was too noisy that it had to be switched off during the night in order to be able to sleep.

Good food, hotel needs work

Excellent food and good variety on breakfast buffet.

No hotel info on check in( restaurant hours and location etc) lost water completely and when it came back on it flooded the room. We're woke up at 12:30AM to knock on door and 2" water throughout room and out into hallway. Non English speaking "house man" used squeegee to pull water from room and then just walked out. No explination or anything and then no water in AM. Had to check out without a shower or even brushing teeth.

I decided to spend extra money on a good hotel after our 5 day safari and was truly disappointed.

The hotel is located on a site with a beautiful view of the Nile.

- Although my booking was confirmed through Booking.com they claimed that Booking.com account was blocked and I had to pay before I could check out. - Staff does not know how to manage complaints from customers - My room was located next to rooms being renovated which was very noisy - Getting a taxi was a major issue as they have to phone for a taxi. After 20 min, when I inquired, I realized that they forgot to order a taxi for me.

overall i recommend this place for all the location was fabulous and room very clean and comfort but note that Staff in restaurant spending most time chatting with each other and i tried so many time to call them or housekeeping from my room for 2days no answer ..once i called reception of the hotel they told me that they dont reply on them also ! that was the only problem

Not impressed

It has a good shop with friendly staff that is quite reasonably priced. The restaurant and serving staff are nice and the breakfast and dinners are nice and good quality.

WiFi reception is poor throughout the hotel. If this is important to you, then do not stay there. It took over half an hour for the staff to bring up our backs after offering! In the end, we went and fetched them ourselves. There were multiple problems with the rooms which are quite dated, to list a few: the bath was dirty and had somebody else’s hair in it, the bedside lamp kept blinking on and off, one of the beds creaked loudly, so one could not roll over in the night for fear of walking someone up and the beds are hard as rock - you might as well be sleeping on granite!

A very cosy base for exploring the area

The concierge staff was fabulous - everything from directions, to alerting us to things happening at the hotel (e.g., sunset tea on the terrace), to untangling travel arrangements and WiFi set ups. It was clean, comfortable, good food on site, within walking distance of the Nubian Museum, and well guarded even at 4:30 AM when we left for a tour. And how about the women's string quartet in for the film festival giving an impromptu concert near the pool? This is not a five star hotel, but nothing is lacking and you can feel safe and comfortable here.

More than happy!

We had a wonderful room with Nile cataract view and a lovely terrace. The pool was pretty much empty and a perfect place for an afternoon break before walking back to town.

Better not to bank on WiFi- get a cheap local sim (e.g. from Etisalad at the corniche) and ignore the lousy attempt of the internet in the lobby.

The room we had booked had a nice view of pool although very little view of the Nile. Even though the hotel is located on the hill, the view of the river is limited. The boxed breakfast was pretty good compared to the boxed Breakfast’s I have eaten in the past. The breakfast buffet was pretty standard. They had various kinds of breads, cheeses, salad bar, omelette station, lentils, potatoes, sausages and a few more items. Only 1 person by the name Ahmed was helpful. He went out of his way to help us. He is very young but I am sure he has a great future ahead of him. The staff in the other departments like house keeping and laundry were very helpful. All the floors have side doors that brings you out to the balcony. You can even go up to the terrace and watch the beautiful sunset without having to go out on the streets where people haggle the life out of you. All in all, decent hotel.

The main problem at the breakfast area was that we had to flag down the omelette station person every 2 mins. He would make 1 omelette and would disappear. The bathroom and some other parts of the hotel could use some TLC. The WiFi is only available in the lobby area but the 2 nights were were there it was not working.TV would just freeze when we tried changing the channels. The water in the pool was cold and it seems like it would be best to use it only during summer months. The staff that worked at reception was overall not that helpful. They were either not able to communicate properly or were disinterested in helping.

If we go back we most likely would stay here again as overall we were very pleased.

Staff was quite friendly and helpful, food was very good. Excellent pool.

We tried several times to set up a massage and both times the massage person was over 45 minutes late so we cancelled both appointments. Our air conditioning didn't work properly.
